Twhite : From the Yard to the Studio

TWHITE’s introduction to music came in a place most artists could never imagine — a prison yard.
What started as a small talent show performance quickly turned into a moment that would change his life forever.
The Ohio artist didn’t grow up dreaming about becoming a rapper. His path originally looked very different. Raised between Cambridge and Columbus, Ohio, Twhite was known as an elite athlete long before he was known for music. In fact, his talent on the football field earned him a commitment to play at Ohio State University — a future that could have taken him straight to the national stage.
But life had other plans.
A Life-Changing Turn
Heading into his junior year of high school, everything changed.
Twhite tore his ACL three separate times, abruptly ending the football dream he had worked his entire life toward. With that chapter closed, he found himself pulled back toward the environment he knew growing up — the streets.
That path eventually led to a 13-year prison sentence for bank robbery.
But ironically, those years behind bars would become the moment that introduced him to the thing that would change his life forever — music.
The Prison Talent Show That Changed Everything
One day during yard time, a friend signed Twhite up for a prison talent show.
At first, only about 30 inmates were watching.
But as he performed, word began to spread across the compound.
By the time he finished, the entire yard had gathered — hundreds of inmates and even prison staff standing around the stage.
That moment told him everything he needed to know.
Music wasn’t just something he could do.
It was something he was meant to do.
Pain, Loss, and Purpose
Even after finding music, life continued to test him.
In 2024, Twhite experienced one of the hardest moments of his life when he lost his little brother.
The loss changed everything.
Music, which had already become an outlet, suddenly took on an entirely new meaning. It became motivation, healing, and purpose.
Now, every record he makes carries that energy.
Not sadness.
But celebration.
A Sound Built on Struggle and Celebration
Twhite describes his sound as “a party mixed with struggle.”
It’s music for people who understand both sides of life — the hard realities and the moments where you still choose to celebrate.
Growing up with a father in and out of jail and a mother working constantly to support the family, Twhite was often the man of the house at a young age. Many people judged him based on appearance or rumors about his life, but his story is far more layered.
As he explains it:
“This is my real life. No exaggeration. But that doesn’t mean judge me off of it. I’m the hero to a lot of people.”
The Work Behind the Music
Being an independent artist hasn’t been easy.
There have been months where studio sessions meant rent falling behind and nights where recording music meant missing plans with friends and family.
But to Twhite, it’s all part of the grind.
Because the people who believe in his music keep him going.
And the motivation to improve never stops.
A Moment With WHOZFIRE
One of Twhite’s favorite moments so far came when his music landed on WHOZFIRE’s Roast & Review show.
During the episode, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal appeared as a guest host — and started vibing to Twhite’s track live on the show.
For any independent artist, moments like that are reminders that the work is paying off.
And that the right ears are starting to listen.
The “3LYF3” Era Begins
Twhite is currently stepping into a major new chapter with the release of his EP:
“3LYF3”
The project dropped March 3rd alongside the release of his single and video “My Favorite.”
But he’s not stopping there.
Twhite is rolling out a new video every three days from the EP, creating a constant stream of visuals and momentum.
The project itself is deeply personal — a dedication to his brother who passed away — but it’s designed to celebrate his life rather than mourn it.
As Twhite puts it:
“It’s my healing chapter.”
More Than Just Music
Twhite’s vision goes beyond being just an artist.
He sees a future where music connects with video production, creative direction, and running his own studio, helping shape the next generation of creators.
Because for him, the mission is bigger than one career.
It’s about changing the narrative of his past and building a brand that represents growth.
What’s Next
If Twhite’s story proves anything, it’s that the path to success doesn’t always look the way you expect.
From a prison yard talent show to building a growing music brand, his journey shows what can happen when someone turns their past into fuel instead of limitations.
And if the 3LYF3 era is any indication, Twhite is just getting started.
